Q: What is workers' compensation?
A: Workers' compensation is a state-regulated employment benefit for which you may be eligible if you become injured or ill while on your job and your claim is deemed compensable.

Q: Who do I contact if I have questions about workers' compensation or its benefits?
A: All questions about workers' compensation should be immediately discussed with your employer or your Travelers Claim Representative.

Q: Do I receive any benefits from workers' compensation?
A: Yes, if a compensable claim. Workers' compensation is regulated by your state and helps protect your income by potentially replacing a portion of your lost earnings should you lose time from work. Also, workers' compensation pays your related medical bills.

Q: Who pays for these benefits?
A: Your employer purchases workers' compensation insurance to pay your benefits. If your claim is found compensable, it covers related medical bills, a portion of lost earnings, mileage reimbursement, prescriptions, and other related expenses.

Q: What do I need to return to work?
A: You may return to work at any time once your doctor has given you a medical clearance. Your doctor will complete a return-to-work form that must be given to your employer.

Q: What happens when I return to work?
A: Your employer may return you to your current assignment or, if instructed by your doctor, may offer another job that will allow you to work with restrictions.

Q: What will happen if I re-injure myself when I return to work?
A: You should immediately let your employer know of your re-injury and report back to your doctor.

Q: Can I ask my employer to do another job if my doctor said I am unable to do my current job?
A: You may ask your employer to perform a transitional job until you are well enough to return to your original position.

Q: Who can tell my employer about the condition that caused my injury/illness?
A: You should let your employer know if you sense that there was a condition at your place of employment that caused your injury and/or illness. This condition can also be discussed with your Claim Representative.

Q: What do I do if I receive a bill from my doctor?
A: If compensable, immediately give it to your Travelers Claim Representative or your employer.
